Your Voice
Have questions or concerns about classes, professors, or student life in The Busch School? Introducing the Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC)! The Dean's Student Advisory Council is composed of fourteen of your fellow peers representing each class and major. These students sit down with Dean Bowman every two weeks to discuss important topics such as internships, technology, the SuperCurriculum, etc. The purpose of the DSAC is to provide a student voice for YOU. Feel free to talk with your student representatives regarding any Busch concerns you may have in any area. They will bring them to the dean at the DSAC meetings and discuss ways to improve. You may also fill out this form with any ideas, suggestions, or concerns.

First Semester Recap
Last semester, we were able to have three DSAC meetings. Each was very helpful in learning how we can what we can do to suit your preferred learning style. Here is a recap of our first three meetings with the top three concerns and discussions:
Meeting 1: Professors
- More writing assignments
- Integrate classroom material with various DC institutions to make material more relevant
- Make more use of online materials
Meeting 2: SuperCurriculum
- Clearly define the freshmen SuperCurriculum course sequence
- In MGT 499, give more real life lessons (ex: what is a 401K, how to read the stock market, salary negotiation, etc.)
- New attendance structure
Meeting 3: Technology
- Give more opportunity for students to be fluent in Excel, Bloomberg, etc.
- More hands-on projects with technological platforms
- Teach technology by major (ex: Excel for Accounting, Bloomberg for Finance, graphic design software for Marketing, etc.)
We appreciate the feedback and fruitful discussions we have had with the DSAC this past semester, and are working on implementing tangible improvements to the above suggestions. In the meantime, if you have any comments or concerns that you would like to voice, please fill out this form, and we will bring it up in our next DSAC meeting with the dean. Thank you!
Faculty Factoid
Did you know 6% of our full-time faculty are Swiss Guards? Andreas Widmer and Mario Enzler are not only former Swiss Guards that now reside at The Busch School but they are also the only Swiss Guards living in the United States.Student Spotlight
Introducing Virginia Birkofer, a fervid student of economics, and junior here at CUA. Virginia is active in Campus Ministry and AEI on Campus as she juggles work, school, and friends. She is grateful for the immense opportunities and challenges that the university and city have to offer, most notably, publishing an academic paper with her economics professor, Dr. Aguirre, attending the CUA dinner this past summer with Tim Busch and Cardinal Wuerl, and her opportunity to work in government intelligence this semester. In between publishing papers and meeting top Catholic leaders, she enjoys exploring the monuments with her fellow Cardinals!
If you would like to nominate a Busch student who goes above and beyond in academics, athletics, service, or student life, please fill out this nomination form.
