Student Spotlight
Have you heard of the 40/40/20 rule? It states that you should spend 40% of your time reading or listening to experts in the field you are interested in, 40% of your time with peers that will hold you accountable and keep you at the top of your game in your field, and 20% of your time giving back and teaching others all the cool stuff you’ve learned. If you follow this rule in your day-to-day, and are interested in Sales and Marketing, then Jessica Grossman should be on your list.

While you were sleeping-in during last week’s snow day, this week’s Student Spotlight, Jessica Grossman, was busy working remotely as a Business Development Intern for OpenGov located in Silicon Valley, C.A. This Senior Marketing Major stays hard at work by juggling her class work and internship, which consists of answering emails and calls of potential partners for the company and other requests or projects – all while maintaining her position as Co-founder of the Marketing Society.

Jessica mentions one of the Marketing Society’s projects, “One cool project we are working on is partnering with a local marketing firm iStrategyLabs. We are collaborating with them to create marketing plans for small businesses around Brookland to promote community engagement and sales.”

Jessica’s favorite class at CUA has been Consult Professional Sales with Professor Weber. Through this course, she was able to understand the different perspectives and benefits of working in sales, and ultimately found the path she wants to take for her career.

One of her proudest moments as a student at CUA was being able to live a semester abroad in Barcelona. Jessica advises all prospective students to study abroad!

Jessica is thankful for the professors and faculty who have personally coached her throughout her four years at CUA, and she believes that if you give your best here at CUA you will get the best in return. There are clearly only good things on the horizon for Jessica so stayed tuned to see where her hard work takes her career in sales!

Persimmon Report

Rumor has it that the Career Development Team is located on the 4th floor of McMahon.  The Busch School is investigating the staircase situation because it seems as though the set of stairs that leads you to the top floor changes randomly.  Someone also reported the statue of Pope Leo come alive…  Harry Potter much?

About Town

  • Yoga has come to Brookland! Can I get a #namaste? Check out BluebirdSky Yoga on 12th street. Stacked with great teachers, this place is great to de-stress, get strong, and get in touch with your inner Zen.
  • Did you guys know there’s more than just a Starbucks in Brookland? Filter coffee is a great place to go and get away from the noise (no wifi… ON PURPOSE!). Catch up with a friend or go on an adventure to their DuPont location!
