When was the last time you were able to raise a couple of thousand dollars for a charity? Or even one hundred?
This week’s Student Spotlight, Lianne Donohue, has served as the Director for Relay for Life at The Catholic University of America for the past two years, and has helped to raise over $130,000 for the American Cancer Society during that time!!
When Lianne is not helping to raise money and awareness for Relay for Life, she’s going to class, giving tours as a Cardinal Ambassador, interning in the Busch School Career Development Office and, to top it off, working nights at Wardman Wines, a local wine shop.
Lianne’s favorite class is Consultative Professional Sales with Professor Mark Weber. She says, “This class has taught all of us to move outside of our comfort zone in order to cultivate our natural abilities to communicate with others in a way that can be applied professionally.”
Her favorite aspect of DC is the accessibility through walking, biking, running, or simply hopping on the metro or bus to explore the city. Lianne also loves how DC allows her to connect with people in the city itself, whether it be alumni or potential employers!
Her advice to prospective students: “Consider what steps you want to take to get the most out of your education, and value if the university is going to provide you the support that you need. Choosing CUA was easy, because I knew I could get the personalized attention to cultivate my curriculum and extracurriculars.”
Lianne’s favorite part of being a CUA student is all the applicable experiences she gains from groups and causes that she is passionate about. No matter what she's been involved in, she has been able to develop professionally and personally. If you are over 21, find Lianne at Wardman Wines for a free wine tasting!
Persimmon Report
In an initiative to find more Zen and enhance students resumes, The Busch School will be hosting Sunrise yoga sessions on the roof of McMahon. In other news, Student Experience Coordinator, Luke Scarchilli, was spotted at Lululemon on 14th street to spruce up his outfit… It’s gonna be LIT.
