Student Spotlight
Jack Martinez is the Busch’s school very own Accounting and Theology guru. When is he not off at class, Mass, or running, he serves as a Student Minister and Treasurer of the House, on the executive board of Phi Eta Sigma as the treasurer, and a member of the Confirmation Retreat Team.
This sophomore Accounting and Theology major believes his studies are a perfect match. He says, “I see the two as inherently and inexorably linked. Catholic Social Teaching, Corporate Social Responsibility, and virtue ethics are all things I hold dear. Application of Catholic morality and ethics to the business world makes it a force for good.”
Jack loves the opportunities and professional relationships he is able to build at CUA as a student, and he has a special shoutout to Professor Sautet and Professor Alvarado, who both made a point to meet for lunch/coffee to discuss his plans for the future and to offer their support, encouragement, and advice.
During his free time, Jack loves exploring the museums, monuments, and simply admiring the historical nature of D.C. His advice to prospective students, “Pick a place where you feel both at home and driven to succeed. For me, CUA is undoubtedly this place.”
This summer you can find Jack spending his time in Indiana completing an internship at Saint Meinrad's Archabbey, furthering his studies of both Accounting and Theology!
